Manny Ramirez has hit yet another roadblock.

The former 2004 World Series MVP has set his sights on making a baseball comeback by playing in the Dominican Winter League — he was even scheduled to begin training with the Cibao Eagles on Monday. However, the Dominican Winter League operates under Major League Baseball, so try as he might, he would still be ineligible to play, according to ESPN.

Ramirez played for the Eagles in the 1993-94 season, the same year he broke into the big leagues. Unfortunately, Ramirez has been in the news lately due to the criminal charges against him after he allegedly hit his wife during an argument.

Manny remains hopeful, however, for the upcoming season.

“Let’s just wait and see what’s the outcome of that meeting; it would be really sad if I’m not allowed to play,” he told ESPN.
