Winnipeg Jets Unveil New Jerseys Inspired by Royal Canadian Air Force (Photo) The Royal Canadian Air Force unveiled its new hockey jerseys Wednesday in Winnipeg. That was how it seemed, at least.

After 15 years away, the NHL's Jets have returned to Winnipeg, Manitoba, and the new franchise — with the same name as the old franchise — presented its new jerseys on Wednesday with the team's RCAF-inspired jet logo.

Four players, including captain Andrew Ladd, strutted out of an RCAF Hercules on a runway at an RCAF base in Winnipeg, where members of the military were on hand.

The new logo borrows from the RCAF logo and adds the outline of a jet. The two-shaded blue color scheme is also borrowed from the RCAF, unlike the old logo, which was a much brighter shade of red and blue.

"We wanted to create a new look … but also honor the right history of hockey in our city and fit the era of the Royal Canadian Air Force, which inspired the primary logo," general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff said, according to The Associated Press.

The Jets moved from Atlanta this offseason, replacing the franchise that shipped off to Phoenix in 1996.
