Glen Johnson hopes to mark Liverpool's Oct. 15 date with Manchester United with a return to action. The right fullback has been out since Sept. 10, when he suffered a hamstring strain during LFC's 1-0 loss at Stoke City.

LiverpoolFC.tv reports that Johnson has resumed training and could make the bench for the clash at Anfield.

"I'm feeling good at the moment and I've been doing plenty of running," the 27-year-old England international said. "I've just started doing ball work outside in training so I reckon it won't be too long now.

"I'm working hard and it would be nice to be back in the squad for the Man United game. Hopefully I can make the bench anyway, so fingers crossed."

Johnson's return to action could come just in time for Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish. Martin Kelly has done a fine job in Johsnon's absence, but the promising defender made a premature departure from the England U-21 setup because of a groin complaint. His status is unknown at this time.

Center back Martin Skrtel has also slotted in at right back while Johnson recovers.
