Michael Vick, Eagles Struggling to Answer for Vince Young's Premature 'Dream Team' Proclamation The dream is dead.

So says Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, according to The Associated Press.

The problem is, the dream wasn't his to begin with. If you'll recall, it was backup quarterback Vince Young who proclaimed Philadelphia's free agent signings this offseason had helped the Eagles assemble a "Dream Team."

I've heard of "writing a check that your butt can't cash," but Young wrote a check with someone else's checkbook.

It's not as though Young had to worry about backing up those comments. He's the back-up quarterback. Young has yet to play a down for the Eagles, and was inconsistent and mediocre on the stat sheet before coming to Philadelphia despite building a reputation as a winning quarterback with a 30-17 career record.

The Eagles, however, haven't been doing much winning this season, and though Young has had little to do with that, at 1-3, Vick and Co. are answering for his proclamation.

"Maybe [the 'Dream Team' label] put pressure on some players, maybe it didn't," said Vick on Wednesday at his locker after practice. "I think just the fact that it was lingering around and people were talking about it creates a sense of pressure. That's over with now. We're one of the teams that's going to have to scratch and kick from the bottom and figure out how we're going to get ourselves back into a position where we can compete with the rest of the teams in the league."

The Eagles have lost some heartbreakers over the first four weeks of the season. Leads of two, 10 and 20 points have evaporated before their very eyes, and now the Eagles are facing the harsh reality that their dream has become.

"Obviously this isn't what we wanted to happen," offensive tackle Todd Herremans said. "There is definitely an urgency among not just the offense, the defense, it's everybody around here. We need to win now.

"It’s just time to be it rather than talk about it."

The team was likely going to carry much of the media attention this season anyway, simply as a result of all their acquisitions. Still, Young's poor choice of words certainly didn't do them any favors.
