Though it is common knowledge that February is Black History Month, it may come as a surprise to many that it is also National Safe Sex Awareness Month. Whoever comes up with these monikers is over my head, but NuVo Condoms is taking advantage of the opportunity.

As reported by USA Today, the condom brand is going to promote safe sex by giving a care package to the player who gets the most blocked shots each week of the month. It looks like NuVo is ready to equate protecting the rim to performing safe sex. I guess it's better than an analogies that come with stealing.

This isn't a new undertaking for NuVo, who reportedly gave out over 400,000 condoms during 2011. It looks like the publicity is serving them well, as they also sponsored the World Series Beer Pong Tournament in early January.
