Jennifer Gonsalves, a senior at Harwich High School, has been named the MIAA/NESN Student-Athlete of the Month for January.

Gonsalves is a member of the Harwich soccer, basketball and spring track and field teams, and she is on pace to finish her high school career with 12 varsity letters. She's a nine-time South Shore All-Star and holds numerous school records in track. Gonsalves also owns the school's all-time scoring record in basketball and led the soccer team in scoring the last three seasons.

In the classroom, she's eighth in her senior class at Harwich. She boasts a 4.1 weighted grade point average with a handful of honors and advanced placement classes.

Gonsalves also gives back, spending time with elementary school students and helping with blood drives and basketball tournaments to name just a couple.

"If I could sum up all of Jen's accomplishments it is the last item that stands out, her ability to reach younger kids in our community," said Paul Demanche, Harwich High School's Athletic Director. "At first they recognize her as Jenny, the basketball star, but after spending a short time with her they come away saying what a great person she is."

Gonsalves will attend UMass-Lowell in the fall where she will play basketball.
