Clubs From Spain, England Continue to Battle for Champions League Bragging RightsWhen it comes to club competition, it's not easy to find which country is the "king" of said competition.

In the case of the Champions League, the tournament that has the most important clubs in Europe and the world, there is no doubt that Real Madrid is "king of the cups" with its nine titles, including winning the first ever tournament in 1955-56.

Regardless, beyond the statistics on behalf of Madrid, we can't say with certainty that Spain is the best country in the Champions, seeing as other countries have turned the balance.

England, birthplace of soccer, and emotional protagonists in all matches, are always in contention when it comes to the dominance of the field.

In that sense, between Spain and England, who is the King of the Champions League?

When you look strictly at championships won, the Spaniards are the "kings" of the competition with 13 titles — nine of those coming from Real Madrid and four from Barcelona.

England isn't even in second place, as Italy is just behind Spain with 12 championships. AC Milan leads the way there with seven titles, and Inter Milan and Juventus combine for the other five crowns.

England follows with its 10 titles. Five of those belong toLiverpool (despite a long ban from European competition), as well as three for Manchester United and two for Nottingham Forest.

On the other hand, if one goes by general qualifiers, the situation is a little bit different as the English lead the way with a UEFA coefficient of 85.785, while Spain is closely behind with a coefficient of 82.329.

Between Spain and England, however, the unquestionable king is Spain, especially as no club seems close to reaching the success of Real Madrid.
