Who Will Win the NBA Slam Dunk Contest? The basketball world was crushed when reports broke that Knicks guard Iman Shumpert would not be participating in the NBA Slam Dunk contest.

Shumpert's absence due to patellar tendinitis most likely means phenom Jeremy Lin will not be taking part in the event, as had been rumored. But there are still four exciting candidates that should make the contest worth watching.

All four have flown under the radar in their careers and will be hoping to use Saturday's contest as a coming-out party.

Derrick Williams leapt onto the scene at the University of Arizona, where the power forward displayed unusual athleticism for a 6-foot-9 power forward. His playing time has been limited with the Timberwolves, because that's what happens when a player backs up Kevin Love.

Chase Budinger boasts one of the best motors in the NBA. He hasn't been known for his acrobatic dunks as much as for his quick first step and two-handed forays to the hoop for the Rockets.

Paul George is by far the best all-around player in the field and could be the favorite. The 6-foot-8 swingman for the Pacers might one day be participating in the All-Star event on Sunday (that is, the actuall All-Star Game), but this year he's settled for the slam dunk exhibition.

If the first three names are unfamiliar, this last one will be completely unknown. Jeremy Evans has played a total of 89 minutes this season with the Utah Jazz and averages a paltry 1.7 points per game. The 6-foot-9 Hilltopper (he went to Western Kentucky) has apparently shown enough to convince folks that he can jump.
