Sergio Garcia is a golfer every fan can get behind because, at least once every few rounds, he plays a hole we can all empathize with.
Garcia had just such a hole on No. 3 at Doral. He hit his tee shot into the water on the right side of the fairway, then failed three times to clear the water after his drop from the rough.
Lucky No. 9 sailed over the green, and after finally making it on to the green Garcia two-putted to finish the hole with a 12. Garcia was in bad spirits, as one could imagine, but the everyman watching the proceedings could take heart in Garcia's octuple-bogey.
