George Brett is impressed with Bryce Harper, Mike Trout and the other talented youngsters Major League Baseball currently has to offer. According to the Royals great, however, the next wave of talent is something special.

Brett, the 2012 All-Star Game’s All-Star Ambassador, had the opportunity to manage the U.S. squad at the MLB Futures Game at Kauffman Stadium on Sunday, and his players’ confidence and poise is what surprised and impressed him the most. He put his fascination into much more eloquent terms during Monday’s Home Run Derby, though.

“Put yourself when you’re 20 years old, 21 years old, playing in an All-Star Game in a major league stadium with 40,000 people there — this game was sold out [Sunday] — you’d have the little poopies in your pants, wouldn’t you,” Brett said. “These guys didn’t have it. They didn’t have it.”

Poopies in your pants, huh? Perhaps Brett was poking fun at his infamous YouTube story, during which he revealed an embarrassing situation involving “poopies” and “pants,” or maybe he was just hammering home his point. Either way, it’s the latest example of the candid George Brett we’ve all come to expect.
