Andres Iniesta finally got what he deserves.

It’s hard for a soccer player to count himself or herself among the best in the world without starring in a top-notch shoe commercial, be it via Nike, Adiddas or Puma. Iniesta appears in a new Nike commercial that befits his status as elite soccer player.

It was made to sell the new CTR360 Maestri III shoe, which hit stores earlier this month.

In it, a string-controlled puppet in Iniesta’s likeness is seen dominating a game that takes place on a grand stage — just as he has done for FC Barcelona and Spain for the better part of the last half decade. Puppet Iniesta uses a vast array of flicks and tricks to advance the ball toward the opposing team’s goal.

Near the end, the real, diminuative awesome Iniesta appears and scores what we are led to believe is the winning goal.

The concept and end product of the commercial were both pretty good. It was far better than the BBVA Compass ad in which Iniesta and Iker Casillas asked strangers for hugs and autographs.
