Cristiano Ronaldo is one of soccer’s all-time greats, and a new documentary film shows how he reached those dizzying heights.

British television network ITV produced the film, Cristiano Ronaldo – Footballing Superstar, which premiered last week in the UK. Fans around the world have a chance to watch it, now that it is doing the rounds on the Internet.

Soccer has taken Ronaldo, 28, from humble beginnings in Madeira, Portugal, to a world in which he enjoys international fame and fortune. The film shows the role courage, skill and determination played in his career, which has seen him play for three of the world’s biggest clubs — Sporting CP (Lisbon), Manchester United and Real Madrid. The pursuits of winning and perfection have been driving forces in his career. The film also looks at the influence managers Sir Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho have had on his career, as well as the inevitable comparisons with Lionel Messi.

Ronaldo is currently at the top of his game, and it’s almost certain that he will add chapters to his legend in the years to come. Before that happens, fans should stop and reflect on what it has taken for him to get to this point.
