Greg BiffleRoush Fenway Racing’s Greg Biffle took 13th in the first round of Budweiser Duels on Thursday night, qualifying him for a start in the inside lane at Sunday’s Daytona 500.

Biffle’s strong finish comes after he logged the third-fasted qualifying time at Daytona International Speedway last Sunday. The 44-year-old recorded a significantly slower time than last year, though, when he took second at the event.

Roush’s Ricky Stenhouse Jr. took 20th place in the first round, while Carl Edwards placed 15th in the second duel.

“Whatever format we have, we’re going to go out and try to win every race and win a championship,” Carl Edwards said before the race, via ESPN. “It’s as simple as that.”

Two-time Daytona 500 winner Matt Kenseth won the first round of the qualifying event, followed by Denny Hamlin’s victory in the second.

Austin Dillon and Martin Truex Jr. are set to make up the front row of the Daytona 500’s starting line. The finishing order of the Budweiser Duels determines the remaining starting positions in the Daytona 500, which is Sunday, Feb. 23.
