Jamie AndersonThe U.S. isn’t doing poorly in the medal count at the 2014 Winter Olympics, but from Shaun White to Shani Davis, Team USA is littered with stories of athletes expected to take gold and falling short.

One businessman wants to make it clear that he is not responsible for one of the distractions that could be keeping the Americans — or anyone else living in the Olympic Village — from podium glory.

Justin Mateen, co-founder of the hook-up app Tinder, has responded to news that many Olympians are using (and being distracted by) his app.

“Tinder will always be here when you’re done,” he said.

His comments come after American snowboarder Jamie Anderson told US Weekly that Tinder use in the Olympic Village is “next level.” Anderson said she thought the high concentration of athletes in one place made for a “hilarious” scenario, even noting she found a couple of cuties.

Anderson has since deleted the app, however, saying it was keeping her from focusing on the Olympics.

Worried his app might somehow be to blame if the medal count takes a hit, Mateen issued a statement to TMZ on Thursday.

“Tinder is a great way to meet new people when you’re traveling and want to get the most out of your experience in a new city, but for now, focus on giving it your all while competing,” he said.

It seems Anderson’s brief Tinder stint didn’t slow her down in the Winter Games, though, as she won the gold medal in the women’s slopestyle event.
