It was the Jeff Carter show Sunday night in the Los Angeles Kings’ preseason game against the Anaheim Ducks. Carter scored three of the Kings’ four goals to earn himself a hat trick.

Kings defenseman Robyn Regehr opened the scoring, but Carter plastered his name all over the score sheet after that, scoring a goal in each period.

Carter had 27 goals and 23 assists for 50 total points last season. In the postseason, the center added 10 goals and 15 assists. If he continues to play like he did Sunday, Carter could be on track for another excellent season.

Goaltender Martin Jones made 33 saves on 35 shots for Los Angeles, and just in case anyone forgot they’re the defending Stanley Cup champions, the Kings killed off two 5-on-3 penalties to make their 4-2 victory that much sweeter.
