USATSI_8100561 (1)Detroit Red Wings star Pavel Datsyuk left Monday’s preseason game with a shoulder injury and did not return.

The star center known as the “Magic Man” took a hit from Pittsburgh Penguins’ defenseman Rob Scuderi late in the third period as Red Wings fans held their breaths. He skated off the ice without assistance but did not finish the game. Ansar Khan of MLive.com reported he would likely be evaluated on Tuesday.

Before the injury, Datsyuk scored the game-winning goal in the second period on the power play.

Datsyuk is entering his 14th season in the NHL. Last season, he missed 37 games with a concussion, groin injury and knee injury.
