Darrelle Revis Unable To Help Patriots’ Offensive Game Plan For Jets

Tom Brady, Darrelle RevisFOXBORO, Mass. — Darrelle Revis is well-versed in Rex Ryan’s New York Jets defense, but the New England Patriots cornerback might not have time to give his offense pointers this week.

The Patriots, coming off a 37-22 win over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night, have a short week to game plan for the Jets. The Patriots will practice just twice before Thursday night’s game.

Revis was asked if he could be of any help to Tom Brady and the Patriots’ offense, since he knows the ins and outs of what Ryan is running.

“I think the coaches are focusing on that on their own,” Revis said Monday at Gillette Stadium. “I got a lot on my plate, and what I need to do game plan-wise and studying these guys. I’ll leave that to the coaches.”

A lot can change in the NFL in just two years. The Jets have changed offensive coordinators — from Brian Schottenheimer to Marty Mornhinweg — since Revis played with the Jets from 2007 t0 2012, so he might not be of much help when it comes to studying their offense either.

“It’s a lot that has changed,” Revis said about the Jets’ offensive scheme. “Scottenheimer was the coordinator there when I was there. So, it’s a different coordinator now, and they run a totally whole different offense. Just got into them today, so I’m still going through the game plan and still looking at their offense.”

This isn’t the first time Revis will play his former team. He and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost 18-17 to the Jets in Week 1 of the 2013 season. The All-Pro cornerback didn’t have much interest in talking about the Jets now that he’s with the Patriots.

“No, I know nothing about them,” Revis deadpanned about the Jets. “Definitely don’t, so hopefully that answers your question.”
