NFL: Washington Redskins at Dallas CowboysTony Romo suffered two fractures in his back during the Week 8 loss to the Washington Redskins, but the Dallas Cowboys quarterback could still suit up for Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals, according to ESPN.com’s Todd Archer.

Archer reports Romo suffered two fractured transverse processes when he took a knee to the back during the third quarter of the overtime loss. The transverse process is a small bone that sticks out from either side of the vertebrae, Archer explained.

Romo initially exited the game, but returned for the Cowboys’ final two drives of the game after X-rays were negative and after getting a painkilling shot.

On Wednesday morning, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones revealed the injury isn’t season-ending, and also said it isn’t related to the back surgery he underwent during the offseason to repair a herniated disc.

The Cowboys have announced Romo, who has not practiced all week and is listed as questionable, will be a game-time decision. If Romo can’t go, Dallas will turn to Brandon Weeden to take his place.
