The 49ers jumped out to a 21-point lead at home against the San Diego Chargers, but apparently that advantage was too small for San Francisco to hold. The Chargers stormed back to tie the game before winning 38-35 with a Nick Novak field goal in overtime.
Coincidentally, the 49ers’ loss — perhaps their worst of the season — came with A-Rod in attendance. The New York Yankees third baseman (OK, designated hitter) took in the game while wearing a Frank Gore jersey. So it only makes sense that the 49ers choked away the game.
This isn’t the first game A-Rod has attended this offseason. It’s actually been an offseason of pigskin for the polarizing Yankee, who’s been to a bunch of football games lately.
