The New England Patriots took a team field trip Wednesday after practice.

The Patriots saw the Clint Eastwood-directed film “American Sniper” in the afternoon as a team. The movie, starring Bradley Cooper, tells the true story of Chris Kyle’s deployment in Iraq.

Head coach Bill Belichick and the team were invited to watch a screening of the film, which will be widely released in theaters on Jan. 16, by Eastwood, The Boston Herald’s Jeff Howe reported Wednesday.

Belichick took the team to a screening of “Lone Survivor” last December.
