The Baltimore Ravens signed a former starter away from the New England Patriots.

The Ravens signed defensive tackle Casey Walker off the Patriots’ practice squad Tuesday, per a team announcement. Walker played in five games for the Patriots this season, recording 11 tackles and making one start.

The Patriots originally signed Walker off the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad Sept. 27. The Patriots waived Walker on Nov. 20 when they signed running back LeGarrette Blount. Walker was added to the practice squad two days later.

Walker became the odd-man out after the Patriots added veteran defensive lineman Alan Branch and with Sealver Siliga coming off short-term injured reserve. Walker signed with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma last season. He spent 2013 on the Panthers’ practice squad.

Since the Ravens signed Walker off another team’s practice squad, he must occupy a spot on their active roster for three weeks.

The Ravens placed running back Lorenzo Taliaferro, safety Terrence Brooks and cornerback Asa Jackson on injured reserve Tuesday. They signed offensive lineman Ryan Jensen off their own practice squad and have one open spot on their 53-man roster.
