Has Joe Flacco surpassed Tom Brady as the most clutch quarterback in the NFL?

The Baltimore Sun certainly thinks so, evidenced by the newspaper’s cover before Saturday’s AFC divisional-round game between the Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots. The paper dubbed Flacco “The New Master” while highlighting the Ravens quarterback’s playoff success over the last seven seasons.

Flacco, who has one Super Bowl ring, has led the Ravens to five straight playoff victories, during which he’s thrown 13 touchdown passes and no interceptions. There’s no denying his knack for stepping up in big games.

But c’mon, man. While Brady hasn’t been the same postseason performer since winning three Super Bowl titles in his first four seasons, he’s still the biggest reason — along with head coach Bill Belichick — for the Patriots’ long-term success.

The Patriots and Ravens have met in the postseason three times, with Baltimore winning two of the matchups behind Flacco’s guidance. Saturday’s playoff contest could be a statement game for one of the signal callers.
