Pedro Martinez’s career was both colorful and impressive.
Martinez was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame on Tuesday alongside Randy Johnson, John Smoltz and Craig Biggio. It was the perfect bow for a magnificent career that featured so many memorable moments.
Martinez perhaps will be remembered most for his complete dominance with the Boston Red Sox during the late 1990s and early 2000s. The pitcher’s feats were even more impressive given that they came at the height of the Steroid Era, when offensive production was through the roof.
In addition to Martinez’s seemingly countless gems, however, were other moments in which the three-time Cy Young Award winner’s personality really shone through. There really will never be another Pedro.
As Pedro enters Cooperstown, let’s look back at some of the eight-time All-Star’s top moments. Keep in mind that narrowing the list to 10 was quite the chore.
