Ravens’ Website Gives Its Own Take On Tom Brady-Terrell Suggs Rivalrly

The Baltimore Ravens are teaching history lessons.

Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will renew their rivarly Sunday in Foxboro, so the Ravens’ website took a look at that rivalry. The two players have been relatively quiet in the week leading up to the matchup, but the disdain the two players have had for each other over the years is tough to hide.

The website brings up the issues the two have had over the years — often incited and prolonged by Suggs. That includes a questionable roughing the passer call against Suggs on Brady all the way back in 2010, Suggs voting for Ryan Fitzpatrick over Brady on his 2010 Pro Bowl ballot and Suggs contention the Patriots’ three super Bowl titles are “questionable.”

“It all started in a 2009 game when Suggs simply fell next to Brady’s feet, grazing the quarterback’s legs as he hit the turf,” the story reads. “Brady motioned to the nearest referee, who pulled out a yellow flag and penalized Suggs with a roughing the passer call. The penalty led to a touchdown and Baltimore lost 27-21.”

The next paragraph is quick to add the penalty “was viewed as a terrible call” before delving into Suggs’ thinking that the call was preferential treatment for Brady. Suggs also believes the league changed its rules on hits below the knee against quarterbacks after Brady suffered a knee injury in 2008.

Of course, it’s not all Suggs. The story also points out Brady’s comments from after a 2010 game against the Ravens in which he quipped “(the Ravens) talk a lot for beating us once in nine years.”

Those comments, however, came before the Ravens’ 2013 AFC Championship Game win over the Patriots, which gives Brady a 1-2 in the postseason against the Ravens.
