BOSTON — Bruins winger Brad Marchand opened the scoring in Sunday afternoon’s game against the Detroit Red Wings with his second shorthanded goal of the season.
After a neutral-zone turnover, Marchand raced into the attacking zone and beat Red Wings goaltender Jonas Gustavsson with a sweet move.
Marchand has scored seven shorthanded goals since the start of the 2013-14 season, which is the most of any player in the NHL. He also scored twice — the game-tying and game-winning goals — in Boston’s 3-2 overtime victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday.
