Brady Quinn: Jameis Winston Improves Footwork, Shows Off Arm At Pro Day

Jameis Winston proved during his pro day Tuesday that he’s the most NFL-ready quarterback in the upcoming draft.

While he’s not perfect, the Florida State product already is improving on some of his weaknesses from college. His footwork is better, and the fact that he’s no longer pitching has improved his throwing motions.

And as former NFL quarterback Brady Quinn pointed out in his FootballByFootball.com column Wednesday, even the adjustments Winston has to make aren’t hard to correct.

“One minute critique would be Winston’s drops from under center,” Quinn wrote. “Without any play action, Winston seemed to ‘step in the bucket’ or drift in the pocket to his backside. This will hurt you in the NFL game as space in the pocket is at a minimum, so it’s best not to stretch either side of the offensive line. Dropping straight back helps keep the integrity of the pocket and defenders on both sides equally at bay (especially important if you are a Tampa Bay Buccaneer … wink wink).”

Besides Winston, Quinn also touched on the Baltimore Ravens’ signing of quarterback Matt Schaub and Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller’s possible breach of NCAA rules. You can check all of it out in the link below.
