Ex-LSU offensive lineman La’el Collins has told Louisiana police that he has an “airtight alibi” regarding his whereabouts the night of Brittney Mills’ murder, according to TMZ Sports.

Mills, who was pregnant, was killed shortly before the 2015 NFL Draft. Collins was projected to be taken in the first round of the draft, but was passed over altogether after he was called back to Louisiana to be questioned by police. Collins is believed to have had a previous relationship with Mills.

Collins allegedly was in New Orleans with family and friends to watch the Pelicans take on the Golden State Warriors in the NBA playoffs, according to TMZ. New Orleans is over an hour from Mills’ apartment, where she was killed.

TMZ is reporting that Collins claims to have texts and emails proving that the trip was planned in advance, and that GPS records from his cell phone can prove his whereabouts. Collins is not currently a suspect in the murder.

The New England Patriots are among three teams who reportedly have interest in the lineman, with their AFC East rival Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins being the other two.
