We’re not even done with OTAs, but there’s already a front-runner for the most disturbing NFL news story of 2015.

Atlanta Falcons linebacker Prince Shembo has been accused with killing his girlfriend’s dog. According to Tony Thomas of WSB in Atlanta, Gwinnett Police have filed felony animal cruelty charges against Shembo, alleging he kicked the dog.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the incident actually happened in April. Shembo’s girlfriend left the dog with him, and when she returned, the dog was found unresponsive. Shembo then reportedly told her he killed the dog.

This isn’t Shembo’s first off-field issue. While at Notre Dame, Shembo was accused of sexually assaulting a female student at a nearby school. The alleged victim eventually committed suicide, and her family accused the university of having a “superficial investigation” to look into the situation.
