Boston College will begin its 2016 college football season in Ireland against ACC rival Georgia Tech.

BC announced Thursday that the game, named the Aer Lingus College Football Classic, will take place on Sept. 3, 2016, at Aviva Arena in Dublin, Ireland’s capital city.

After a disappointing 2-10 finish in 2012, the Eagles have posted back-to-back 7-6 seasons under head coach Steve Addazio. They lost the 2014 Pinstripe Bowl 31-30 to Penn State at Yankee Stadium last season but will hope to start their 2015 campaign on a high note against a Georgia Tech team capped an 11-3 season with a win over Mississippi State in the Orange Bowl.

The game will mark the sixth time a bowl division game is played in Ireland, the latest coming in 2014 between UCF and Penn State. BC played college football’s first game in the Emerald Isle, notching a 38-24 win over Army in 1988.
