Don Orsillo apparently is like Brick from “Anchorman,” at least in one aspect.
D.O. obviously is much smarter and a much better TV personality, but NESN’s Boston Red Sox play-by-play guy and Brick do share one thing in common: their love for lamps.
Osrillo was overjoyed on a recent Red Sox road trip when the TV booth included a lamp. He spoke glowingly of the lamp, and colleague Jerry Remy was fascinated by Orsillo’s obsession with the lamp.
Fast forward a few days to the Red Sox’s return home to Fenway Park, and Remy had a gift for his buddy. In the second inning of Wednesday night’s game versus the Minnesota Twins, Remy presented Orsillo with a gift. The present, which according to Remy came from “Bed, Bath and Because,” lit up Orsillo’s world — both literally and figuratively.
