Jonny Gomes made many friends during his season-plus with the Boston Red Sox. Now, it looks like he’s hell-bent on turning those same friends into enemies.
Gomes absolutely robbed Dustin Pedroia with a diving play Monday in the fourth inning of the Atlanta Braves’ 4-2 win over the Red Sox at Fenway Park. Boston’s losing streak reached seven games with the defeat, which is OK with Gomes, who said before the game he’s only focused on helping Atlanta.

Pedroia, who sounded frustrated before the game while discussing the Red Sox’s struggles, finished with two hits and reached base three times, continuing his impressive stretch atop Boston’s order. Another knock would have been nice, though, and Gomes deprived him of that fate.
