The NFL has big plans to move the Chargers out of San Diego. But San Diegans are pulling out all the stops to make sure that doesn’t happen.

With their stay in Qualcomm Stadium nearing an end, the Chargers have two options: Find a new stadium in San Diego, or move elsewhere, potentially to a venue in Los Angeles they’d share with the Oakland Raiders.

The city obviously doesn’t want that to happen, so the San Diego City Council held a meeting Tuesday to vote on allocating money toward a stadium in the Mission Valley area.

Now go back and watch that video again, and pay close attention at around the 1-minute mark.

Yes, that’s Boltman, the Chargers’ mascot, on hand to testify on his beloved team’s behalf.

Apparently, the efforts of Boltman and friends paid off, as the City Council agreed to spend $2.1 million on an Environmental Impact Report for the Mission Valley stadium site.

Of course, San Diego still has a long way to go if it wants to keep the Chargers in town, but the City Council’s vote Tuesday at least kept that possibility alive. Way to go, Boltman.
