Matt Barnes allegedly drove over 90 miles over the weekend to beat up former teammate and current New York Knicks coach Derek Fisher, and now, he’s speaking out.

To no one’s surprise, Barnes said a whole lot of nothing, but there was a bit of subtle shade thrown at Fisher.

“We were friends,” Barnes said, when asked about his relationship with his former Los Angeles Lakers teammate. “We were good friends at one point.”

When asked for clarification on if the two remained good friends, Barnes repeated the answer: “We were good friends at one point.”

Barnes repeated the phrase several times before ultimately explaining that due to the ongoing legal process he was unable to comment further on the matter.

The Redondo Beach Police Department told TMZ Sports Barnes won’t face charges. However, the NBA could suspend Barnes for a violation of its personal conduct policy based on the findings of their investigation.
