Trevone Boykin looks to be an athlete who “gets it.”

Boykin’s on-field skills and accolades are undeniable. The TCU quarterback is one of the best players in college football, and he’s a big reason the Horned Frogs have national championship aspirations.

However, he showed this weekend at Iowa State that he’s also got plenty of kindness. As is custom in Ames, there was a Kid Captain from the Blank Children’s Hospital on the field for the coin toss. Saturday’s captain was Abby Faber. According to her bio on the hospital’s website, Abby was born at 30 weeks, weighing just 1 pound and 13 ounces. She’s mostly confined to a wheelchair, but she’s worked hard to get better and has started to take her first independent steps.

Now she’s probably got a little extra motivation from Boykin. The Heisman Trophy hopeful took some time before Saturday’s game to speak with the young Iowa State fan.

The Forth Worth Star-Telegram’s Paul Moseley was able to snap this tremendous photograph and gave a little background in a post on Facebook.

“It gives you a warm feeling inside to know you’ve got fans on the opposing team like that,” Boykin told reporters after the game. “It’s really just an unbelievable feeling. You can’t really put in words. It makes people like me so proud that I can be in this position.”

Boykin also posted the photo to his Instagram page with a caption reading: “It’s bigger than a game I love touching young people lives”

Abby wasn’t the only Iowa State fan Boykin won over in TCU’s blowout win, as the video below shows.
