Jimmy Graham Injury: Latest News, Fantasy Fallout Of Seahawks’ Big Loss

UPDATE (9 p.m. ET): Jimmy Graham will miss the rest of the season with a right leg injury, the Seattle Seahawks and head coach Pete Carroll announced Sunday.

ORIGINAL STORY: Jimmy Graham’s season is in jeopardy.

Graham was carted off the field Sunday in the fourth quarter of the Seattle Seahawks’ game against the Pittsburgh Steelers at CenturyLink Field. The Seahawks tight end landed awkwardly on his right leg while trying to catch a pass from Russell Wilson in the corner of the end zone.

Graham wore an air cast as he was carted off and was brought directly to an X-ray room, according to the CBS broadcast. The severity of the injury is unclear at this point, but it didn’t look good.

Graham hasn’t posted his usual monster numbers in his first season with the Seahawks, but there’s no denying his absence would be a huge blow to Seattle’s offense. The 29-year-old has 48 receptions for 605 yards and two touchdowns this season.

If Graham misses time, Luke Wilson could see more action as Seattle’s new No. 1 tight end. However, the third-year pro doesn’t have Graham’s pedigree — Wilson caught a career-high 22 passes for 362 yards and three touchdowns last season — so one is better off looking elsewhere for a viable fantasy replacement.

On the flip side, Graham’s absence could mean more targets for Seahawks receivers Doug Baldwin, Jermaine Kearse and/or Tyler Lockett. That, of course, boosts their respective fantasy values, though Seattle obviously is more concerned with losing a perennial Pro Bowl selection in Graham.

Graham, a three-time Pro Bowl pick, averaged 77.5 receptions, 950.4 receiving yards and 10.2 receiving touchdowns per season in five seasons with the New Orleans Saints before being traded to the Seahawks over the offseason.
