Thanks to DeMarcus Cousins, one family’s holiday season just got a whole lot brighter.
The Sacramento Kings center, who has been the subject of recent trade rumors, gave back to the community in an awesome way Wednesday by surprising a local family with a new car.
After Maurice Williams and Selena Pina were invited along with their children to Sleep Train Arena for a private tour, Cousins stealthily piloted a brand new 2016 Chevy Malibu onto the court before laying on the horn to surprise the shocked family.
What made the moment even more special for Williams and Pina was the couple’s incredible backstory. From Sacramento’s KVTV-TV:
“Williams and Pina are raising their 3-year-old daughter Marina, in addition to Selena’s two younger twin sisters J’nay and J’nette Sims, who were twice abandoned — once by their biological mother, and then again by family friends who didn’t want them anymore.
“Malnourished and neglected, the twins, almost six-years-old at the time, were left at the front door of Maurice and Selena, who then contacted Child Protective Services for help.”
According to KVTV, Maurice and Selena officially adopted J’nay and J’nette in October. The couple is engaged and planning to get married next summer, and thanks to Cousins, they’ll have a new car to accommodate their newest family members.
