Dave Dombrowski breezed right through his checklist.

The Red Sox have acquired an ace (David Price), an All-Star closer (Craig Kimbrel), a solid fourth outfielder (Chris Young) and an additional bullpen weapon (Carson Smith) this offseason, leaving Boston without any glaring needs roughly four months away from Opening Day.

Red Sox president Sam Kennedy is impressed.

“He’s just done an amazing job,” Kennedy said Thursday on WEEI’s “Ordway, Merloni and Fauria” of Dombrowski, who was hired as Boston’s president of baseball operations back in August. “It’s been fun to watch. It’s been fun to work alongside him. He’s a terrific guy. He’s been in the game 37 years and it really has been fantastic having him part of the Red Sox organization.”

The Red Sox needed to add some pieces after finishing in last place in the American League East for the third time in four seasons. It’s amazing how quickly Dombrowski has improved the roster, though we won’t know the true impact of Boston’s moves until the team kicks off its 2016 slate.

“We shouldn’t feel too good winning the offseason,” Kennedy cautioned, despite being very pleased with the Red Sox’s situation. “I’ve been around here 15 years. I know how that goes.”

Nevertheless, Boston is in a good spot thanks in large to the work done by Dombrowski.
