Greg Hardy’s first season in Dallas looks like it will be his last.

The Cowboys plan to move on from the free-agent defensive end this offseason, 105.3 The Fan in Dallas reported Monday, citing sources.

At his best, Hardy is considered one of the NFL’s best pass rushers. At his worst, however, he’s often viewed as a distraction on and off the field, as has been the case over the last two seasons, particularly after being signed by the Cowboys last year.

Hardy, in his final season with the Carolina Panthers, was placed on the commissioner’s exempt list and missed all but one game during the 2014 season after being accused of hitting his ex-girlfriend. His contract expired, and the Panthers let him walk, leading to his signing with Dallas.

The Cowboys signed Hardy to a one-year, incentive-laden contract. After serving a four-game suspension to start the season, Hardy was largely inconsistent on the field and a loose cannon off the gridiron. He caused a stir before his first game back with controversial comments about New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, got into an altercation with a coach and teammates during a game and reportedly had a habit of tardiness.

Hardy recorded six sacks in 12 games with the Cowboys, but just two of those came in the final eight games of the season.
