It seems Malcolm Butler’s reported desire for a new contract won’t keep him from New England Patriots organized team activities this week.

Butler is expected to return to Patriots OTAs this week, a source told the Boston Herald’s Jeff Howe on Tuesday. Butler was absent from last Thursday’s session open to the media, but the source told Howe the cornerback’s absence “wasn’t a big deal.”

Butler is set to make just $600,000 in 2016 despite making the Pro Bowl in his first year as a starter in 2015. He’ll be a restricted free agent in 2017.

Butler is one of many Patriots defensive starters, including linebackers Dont’a Hightower and Jamie Collins, who will be free agents after this season.
