Carli Lloyd Scores Another Long-Range Goal, Still Shooting Like World Cup 2015

Carli Lloyd’s 95th career goal for the United States women’s national team reminds us of her greatest moment.

Lloyd scored a tremendous, long-range goal Sunday in Team USA’s 5-1 exhibition win over Switzerland. It was the first of two goals she scored against the Swiss.

The veteran midfielder beat Switzerland’s goalkeeper with a powerful drive from around 35 yards out to tie the score at 1-1 in the 25th minute.

Lloyd’s goal hearkened back to her famous strike in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup final. You know, the one where she shot from just inside the halfway line to complete her hat trick in USA’s 5-2 win over Japan.

Her performance that day is widely regarded as the best of any player in any major FIFA final, either in the men’s or women’s game.

And that’s reason enough to watch Lloyd’s latest feat and smile like it’s summer 2015 all over again.
