Leonard Fournette To Declare For 2017 NFL Draft, End LSU Career After Citrus Bowl

Leonard Fournette is ready to test himself at football’s highest level.

The Louisiana State running back announced Monday that he intends to enter the 2017 NFL draft. Fournette explained his decision in a letter he published on Twitter.

LSU will play Louisville on Dec. 31 in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl in what almost certainly will be Fournette’s final college football game.

The junior has rushed for 843 yards on 129 carries this season, but those numbers shouldn’t hurt his draft prospects too badly, given his spectacular sophomore year (in which he rushed for 1,953 yards and scored 22 touchdowns).

Fournette most likely will be a first-round draft pick.

Let the jockeying among NFL team for his services begin.
