NFL Rumors: Bears, Dolphins Discussing Jarvis Landry-Jordan Howard Trade

Jarvis Landry soon might relocate from South Beach to the Windy City.

The Miami Dolphins are in talks with the Chicago Bears over a trade for their Pro Bowl wide receiver, CSN Chicago’s John Mullin reported Saturday, citing sources. The Bears reportedly would send running back Jordan Howard and the No. 8 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft to Miami in exchange for Landry, the No. 11 overall pick and the Dolphins’ third-round pick in this year’s draft.

Howard has been the focal point of Chicago’s offense the past two seasons, but newly appointed Bears coach Matt Nagy reportedly doubts how effective he can be in the West Coast offense he envisions the team playing.

Landry led the NFL in receptions last season with 112 and also caught nine touchdown passes. Miami announced last month it would place the franchise tag on him, under which he’d earn $16 million in 2018. Nevertheless, rumors have surrounded Landry’s future with the Dolphins since last summer, due to his desire for a long-term contract extension, and have only intensified in recent weeks.

Chicago reportedly has shown the most concrete interest in acquiring the 25-year-old and might be willing to provide Landry the long-term security he wants. But it might come at a cost, namely the tenure Howard, one of its most dependable players in recent seasons.
