1. Steelers’ Offense Continues to Find a Way in the Second Half

There are many reasons the Steelers come out of the gate slow offensively in football games, but luckily for this offense, their defense allows them to find their footing. The Steelers trailed the Los Angeles Rams 9-3 at the half, along with 17-10 heading into the fourth quarter. In the final frame, the Steelers outscored the Rams 14-0 and could move the football in typical Steeler fashion. George Pickens and Diontae Johnson made big plays in the second half, even if they took some costly penalties to balance it out. There are some nice pieces in the Steelers’ offense, but they’ve yet to find their rhythm in the first half of games. Against great teams, the Steelers will need more of a 60-minute effort to be considered a real contender in the AFC.

2. T.J. Watt Remains a Superstar

At least once a game, T.J. Watt is making an explosive play for the Steelers on defense. That happened in Week 7, as the Steelers limited the Rams offensively on the scoreboard. A significant reason for that is Watt’s sensational play coming out of the half in the third quarter. The great read and interception helped get the Steelers back on track offensively and gave the offense some confidence to build on. Watt can wreck a game plan in so many ways, and Sunday afternoon proved that again. Whether you need Watt to find his way to the quarterback or create a turnover, he continues to find a way. Watt is a perennial Defensive Player of the Year candidate and deserves the type of recognition he’s getting after Sunday’s big performance.

3. Kenny Pickett Will be Fine if you Hold Proper Expectations

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but Kenny Pickett will be a competent NFL signal-caller. There are still some growing pains with the second-year quarterback, but he shows up when it matters and routinely comes up clutch. Many Steelers fans have qualms with how Matt Canada calls the offense, and for good reason. Still, the Steelers looked better offensively after the bye. Pittsburgh’s offense is unlikely to ever be near the top of the NFL. However, with a defense that can create this many splash plays, all the offense has to do is be mediocre.
