The Red Sox sit four wins away from a championship, with Game 1 of the World Series getting underway on what looks to be a brutally cold night in Boston.
Jon Lester will be on the mound for the series opener against the National League-champion Cardinals, with John Lackey slated to follow in Game 2. The rotation could get a little dicey when the series shifts to St. Louis, though.
Clay Buchholz would be the logical choice to pitch Game 3, but he has not exactly been himself this postseason, and reports surfaced Wednesday that he may not be 100 percent physically, either.
If Buchholz is limited, or if Jake Peavy suffers through as rough an outing as he did in Game 4 of the ALCS, starters-turned-bullpen hands Felix Doubront and Ryan Dempster may see their roles increase this series.
