Ryan Westmoreland Making Steady Progress, In Great Spirits

Minor league outfielder Ryan Westmoreland, who is currently undergoing treatment at Boston’s Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, is making steady progress and is in great spirits, Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein announced Monday.

On March 16, Westmoreland underwent surgery to remove a cavernous malformation in his brain. The 19-year-old spent several days at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix before being cleared to return to Boston to continue his recovery.
