Jacoby Ellsbury is getting a big raise.
Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reports via Twitter that Ellsbury has avoided arbitration and signed a one-year, $2.4 million deal with performance incentives. According to WEEI.com, Ellsbury will earn $50,000 for 600 plate appearances and another $50,000 for 700 plate appearances.
Ellsbury, who made $496,500 in 2010, played in only 18 games last season due to rib injuires.
The 27-year-old outfielder was a first-round pick in 2005 (23rd overall) and made his major league debut in 2007. He is a .291 career hitter with 399 hits, 222 runs scored, 136 stolen bases in 349 games.
