Trailing Georgia by 10 early in the SEC Championship game Saturday, LSU cornerback Tyrann Mathieu got the Tigers on the board with a 62-yard punt return for a touchdown. As he was crossing the goal line, Mathieu flipped the ball to a referee on the sideline, sparking controversy as to whether or not it was a good touchdown.
His tenacious style of play has earned him the nickname of “Honey Badger” by fans, coaches and teammates alike, in reference to the animal that is known to have few predators due to its ferocity and defensive abilities.
Mathieu received the punt, crossed up a few Georgia defenders then turned up the speed to find his way into the end zone. Check out the video below of his return and see whether or not you think he crossed the goal line with possession.
