Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco is a divisive character almost everywhere in the NFL. Even within his organization, no one is really quite certain what to make of him.
The uncertainty has avoided one mind out there, and that mind is Flacco's. While his agent works on a new contract with Baltimore, the fifth-year quarterback is out promoting his own cause.
In an interview with Baltimore's WNST, Flacco didn't shy away from describing his talent exactly as he sees it.
When asked if he believes he is a top-five quarterback, Flacco told listeners, "I assume everybody thinks they're a top-five quarterback. I mean, I think I'm the best. I don't think I'm top five, I think I'm the best."
It's a pretty impressive feat, but in an offseason filled with news about Peyton Manning and Tim Tebow, Flacco's statement might just be the most ridiculously surprising news yet.
It's not hard to think of at least five quarterbacks in the NFL that are better than the former Delaware standout, let alone just one. But Flacco seems set on the notion that he's at the top of the league.
Either that, or he's just shilling for a bigger contract. At least this time he's shilling for his own cause, and not someone else's.
