It looks like Johnny Football is not exactly Johnny Classroom.
Johnny Manziel, the Heisman-winning quarterback from Texas A&M, told reporters at an awards reception Monday that he is taking all online classes this semester, and he only visits campus about once per month. A school spokesperson did not confirm or deny Manziel’s schedule.
The arrangement isn’t for a lack of trying, however. The freshman explained that he tried to take an English course on campus, but was overwhelmed by autograph and photo requests from other students.
“I didn’t think anything of it,” Manziel told the Associated Press, “and it kind of turned into a little more of a big deal than I thought.”
