An NFL player named Desmond Bryant was arrested on Sunday morning and it was not Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant.
Bryant, a Raiders free agent defensive tackle, was arrested on charges of criminal mischief. He was booked at 9:24 a.m. Sunday on $1,000 bail, according to ESPN.com.
The Harvard product was one of Pro Football Focus’ top rated interior defenders in 2012. He had three sacks, 11 quarterback hits and 20 quarterback pressures. The Raiders signed the 6-foot-6, 311-pounder as an undrafted free agent in 2009. He has only missed one game during his four-year career, and he’s started 18 games over the past two seasons.
It was originally believed that the Cowboys receiver was the culprit when Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel tweeted, “I’m hearing word from by sources that Cowboys WR Dez Bryant got arrested last night in Miami-Dade. Working to confirm.” That tweet has since been deleted.
Bryant later tweeted, “Ooo [expletive] false rumors about jail? Lol I was working out at 2 something in the morning in Dallas tx.”
